The latest result of Newcastle vs Arsenal marks Arsenal’s first away loss in the league since May 2022.

Arsenal struggled to create goal-scoring chances during the match. Mikel Merino had one shot in the first half, but the Newcastle goalkeeper blocked it on the line. Before the end of the game, Declan Rice had a great chance to equalize, but his shot went wide, and Arsenal couldn’t find the back of the net.

In contrast, Newcastle scored the only goal of the match early, in the 12th minute, and maintained their lead. They had chances to extend their advantage, but Arsenal’s David Raya saved Isak’s shot. Ultimately, Newcastle won 1-0.

This game highlights Arsenal‘s difficulties. They have only won one of their last three Premier League matches and have lost the last two. The absence of Martin Ødegaard has weakened Arsenal’s attack, making it hard for them to break through Newcastle’s defense.

As a result, Arsenal dropped from third to 5th place, while Newcastle moved up to 12th.

Newcastle United vs Arsenal Player Ratings

Arsenal Player Ratings

White vs Newcastle

  • David Raya (GK) – 6.5/10 – He couldn’t stop Isak’s goal but had a solid performance. He was confident, distributed the ball well, and saved a few shots easily.

  • Thomas Partey (RB) – 6/10 – Not as strong as last Sunday, even though Newcastle didn’t target him directly. He looked assured when moving into midfield but struggled to make any breakthroughs.

  • William Saliba (CB) – 5.5/10 – Took time to adapt and made some clear defensive mistakes. His weakness in the air was also highlighted.

  • Gabriel (CB) – 5.5/10 – Physically fit but was beaten early by Gordon’s great pass, which went over his head to Isak. He didn’t show much confidence at St. James’ Park.

  • Jurrien Timber (LB) – 5/10 – After two substitutions by Arteta in the 60th minute, Timber ended up on both flanks but was average on the left. He didn’t get involved enough. Could he have done more to stop Gordon’s crosses?

  • Declan Rice (CM) – 6/10 – His set-piece radar failed early on and he was overwhelmed in midfield before Arteta changed tactics. He nearly scored but his shot was blocked. He had a great chance at the end.

  • Mikel Merino (CM) – 5/10 – Almost equalized early with a nice pass to Martinelli, who should have scored. He had some off-the-ball issues and received a yellow card for a late tackle on Bruno Guimarães.

  • Leandro Trossard (AM) – 3/10 – The less said about his performance, the better.

  • Bukayo Saka (RW) – 5.5/10 – It was not a good day for Saka. Lewis Hall did well against him, and Saka was forced off after being stepped on the Achilles by Hall. He should have converted a world-class pass from Rice in stoppage time.

  • Kai Havertz (ST) – 4/10 – I appreciate his movement, but I wanted to see him occupy the central space more.

  • Gabriel Martinelli (LW) – 4.5/10 – Howe was correct to support Livramento against the Brazilian. Martinelli failed to break through Newcastle’s right back.
