Liverpool vs Crystal Palace 1-1: Eagles Secure Valuable Point in Women’s Super League

Crystal Palace earned a strong point on the road against Liverpool, with Katie Stengel scoring her first goal for the team.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: First Half

The Eagles started the match with great energy and looked more dangerous than Liverpool FC. In the 14th minute, a chaotic play led to Palace‘s first goal. Indiah-Paige Riley made a great run on the right, setting up My Kato. Kato’s cutback reached Liverpool’s Lucy Parry, but her weak clearance failed to clear the danger.

The ball bounced around the box until Katie Stengel found it. Close to the goal, she scored on her second attempt, putting Palace F.C. ahead. After taking the lead, Palace felt comfortable at St Helens Stadium. Liverpool f.c. struggled to challenge goalkeeper Shae Yanez, while Palace seemed more likely to score again.

In the 36th minute, Mille Gejl played a perfect pass behind Liverpool‘s defense. Annabel Blanchard tried to score but Rachael Laws made a solid save, though Blanchard needed to finish better.

Just a minute later, Liverpool found their way back into the game. They countered quickly, forcing Yanez into a big save. Although Palace cleared the danger, a poor pass from Josie Green and a failed clearance by Riley gave Cornelia Kapocs a chance. She took it easily, finding the back of the net past Yanez.

Before halftime, Stengel almost scored again. Gejl delivered a smart ball over Liverpool’s defense, but Stengel shot over the bar.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace: Second Half

Kaminski’s Eagles kept up their strong performance in the second half, matching Liverpool well. Stengel came close to scoring again, but a vital block stopped her shot.

As time went on, Liverpool improved their play. Olivia Smith made an impact, hitting the post with a powerful shot from 30 yards.

Despite Liverpool pushing for a goal, Palace held strong in defense while still threatening on offense. As the game ended, neither team could find a winner. Palace walked away with a valuable point, extending their unbeaten run away from home to two matches. They sit ninth in the WSL, with one win from five games.
