Tennis in the Land: A Global Celebration of Women’s Tennis in Cleveland

Tennis in the Land

The Tennis in the Land tournament, now in its fourth year, has transformed Cleveland into a global tennis hub, attracting some of the world’s top women’s tennis professionals. Taking place in the dynamic West Bank of the Flats in downtown Cleveland, this prestigious event is one of only four professional women’s tennis tournaments in the United States, making it a must-see for tennis enthusiasts across the nation.

Alexa Brooks, an integral part of the tournament’s organization, relocated to Ohio specifically because of this event. “I moved here because it’s a women’s tennis tournament,” Brooks explained. “Being a part of one of the few women-only tennis tournaments in the U.S. is a tremendous honor.” Her passion for advancing women’s sports is evident, and her commitment has played a significant role in the tournament’s success.

With the rise in popularity of women’s sports, Ben Moore, another key organizer, stressed the tournament’s unique opportunity for fans to witness top-tier tennis up close. “This event not only brings in elite players from around the globe but also involves a diverse team working behind the scenes,” Moore said. “Our operations team includes professionals from France, Vanuatu, Spain, and even as far as Hawaii and China. We’re truly covering every corner of the globe.”

The tournament, running until August 24, provides numerous chances to watch high-level tennis every day. Beyond the matches, the event offers various activities, such as Women in Sports Day, a free networking and panel event aimed at empowering women in the sports industry. “This is something close to my heart,” Brooks noted, “and it’s a privilege to contribute to one of the few women’s tennis tournaments in the country.”

Tennis in the Land continues to be a beacon for women’s tennis, not just in Cleveland, but on a global scale, uniting players, fans, and professionals from around the world in a celebration of the sport.
