Rutgers University is set to host Kiyan Anthony, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, for an official visit on the weekend of October 4. Kiyan, a four-star shooting guard in the 2025 recruiting class, confirmed his visit in a recent conversation with NJ Advance Media.
Kiyan, whose father is a basketball icon, is currently considering several top programs. In July, he listed Rutgers among his top six choices. The other schools on his list are Syracuse University, Auburn University, the University of Southern California, Ohio State University, and Florida State University.
Anthony’s Recruitment and His Connection to Rutgers
Rutgers extended an offer to Kiyan in July. He is currently ranked 31st in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports Composite. Speaking with Tipton, Anthony emphasized the warm reception he received from Rutgers. “They’ve always treated me very well,” he said. “Of all the schools, they’ve shown the most enthusiasm. Being close to home, I’m eager to visit, take some photos, and explore their campus. Their support has been outstanding.”
Anthony plans to make his commitment by the start of his senior season. He aims to finalize his decision in October or November.
Kiyan carries a prestigious legacy as the son of Carmelo Anthony. Carmelo, who retired as the ninth-leading scorer in NBA history, enjoyed a storied career. His achievements include 10 NBA All-Star appearances and 19 seasons in the league. He finished his career with the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2021-22 season.
