Real Madrid Eyes Alphonso Davies with €35 Million Offer

Bundesliga

Real Madrid is making a significant push to acquire Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich, with the Spanish giants reportedly preparing a €35 million bid for the Canadian defender. According to journalist Tomas Gonzalez-Martin, who shared insights via El Debate, Real Madrid’s offer is a strategic move to secure Davies’ transfer.

Real Madrid’s Firm Stance

Real Madrid’s approach comes with a notable condition: if Bayern Munich insists on a higher fee, Real Madrid is determined not to increase their offer. Instead, the club is willing to wait until 2025 to sign Davies as a free agent, should the negotiations not proceed this year. This tactic underscores Real Madrid’s reluctance to overpay, adhering to their transfer policy which favors cost-effective deals unless the player in question is an extraordinary talent, akin to Kylian Mbappe.

Davies’ Intentions

Davies, who has expressed a strong desire to join Real Madrid, is reportedly not swayed by financial incentives. Despite Bayern Munich offering him a lucrative contract worth €14 million annually over five years, Davies has turned down the offer. His primary motivation appears to be a move to Spain rather than financial gain.

Should the transfer take place this year or within the next 11 months, Davies is expected to sign with Real Madrid on a deal offering €12 million net per year, aligning him with other star players such as Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr.

Bayern Munich’s Position

On Bayern Munich’s side, the club faces a financial decision. With Davies indicating his unwillingness to renew his contract, Bayern Munich’s president, Jan-Christian Dreesen, is reportedly open to negotiations with Real Madrid. Dreesen’s pragmatic approach contrasts with the more hardline stance previously associated with Uli Hoeness, who might have been less inclined to consider a sale.

Given the situation, Bayern Munich must weigh the benefits of a potential €35 million offer against the risk of losing Davies for free if he does not sign a new contract.

Real Madrid’s Strategy

Real Madrid’s management has made it clear that they will not surpass the €35 million mark for Davies. The club’s strategy reflects a broader policy of avoiding inflated transfer fees for players nearing the end of their contracts. If an agreement with Bayern Munich cannot be reached, Real Madrid is prepared to wait until Davies becomes a free agent, at which point he would sign a six-year contract and receive a signing bonus of around €10 million.

In summary, Real Madrid’s pursuit of Alphonso Davies illustrates a calculated approach to transfer negotiations, balancing immediate opportunities with long-term strategic planning.
