On Sunday, during the Serie A match between Fiorentina and Inter Milan, Edoardo Bove suddenly collapsed on the pitch, leading to the game being abandoned.
Fiorentina, Bove’s club (he is on loan from Roma), has since released a statement confirming that the Italian midfielder is currently in intensive care.

According to the statement, Bove is now able to breathe on his own. Doctors have ruled out any acute damage to his central nervous system and cardio-respiratory system. However, he will need further evaluation in the coming hours.
What Happened?
The incident occurred while VAR was reviewing a disallowed goal. Bove suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed on the field.
Medical staff quickly rushed to assist him, and he was taken to the hospital for urgent treatment.
Players from both Fiorentina and Inter Milan appeared shocked and anxious as the referee took the teams off the pitch and suspended the match.
Later, Inter Milan issued a statement saying the Fiorentina vs Inter Milan game was abandoned due to a medical emergency.
