Black Myth: Wukong – Complete Boss Guide Released: 81 Challengers Await

Black Myth_ Wukong - Boss Guide

Black Myth: Wukong pays homage to the 81 trials faced by the Monkey King in Journey to the West, featuring a total of 81 bosses. At first glance, this might seem overwhelming, but given the many monsters and adversarial beings present in the novel, the game can be seen as staying true to its source material to some extent. Here is our comprehensive guide to the bosses in Black Myth: Wukong, providing you with a preview of the challenges ahead. Please note that this guide contains significant spoilers.

Black Myth: Wukong Boss Guide

Black Myth: Wukong is not strictly a “boss rush” game. That is to say, you won’t be fighting one powerful enemy after another in the same location. Although there are many adversaries, you can still explore different areas, some of which feature side quests and secrets. Nevertheless, the sheer number of bosses means that taking them all on is no easy feat. Therefore, our boss guide is organized as follows:

  • Most bosses with multiple encounters or phases are listed as separate entries.

  • We have included battles where you can gain shape-shifting abilities.

  • While some enemies may grant mental (i.e., quick-shift) abilities, most of these are discussed in our mental skills guide.

  • Enemies are listed by campaign chapter, with secret bosses in each chapter appearing in their respective sections.

Key Bosses Overview

Here we listed 10 Challengers, the rest will be updated asap.

Erlang Shen

The first boss you encounter in the game is Erlang Shen. It’s worth noting that this battle is more of a tutorial, taking place in the prologue, and not a true boss fight.

Erlang Shen

Niu Wei

The first true boss in the campaign is Niu Wei, who is relatively easy to defeat. You can even use the “Binding Spell” to help overcome him.

Niu Wei

Guangzhi

Battling the wolf monster will reward you with the Red Tide shapeshifting spell, allowing you to transform into a wolf-like creature wielding a burning spear.

Guangzhi

Lingxuzi

This white wolf nests in the Avalokiteshvara Temple. Defeating it will allow you to progress to the next area in the region.

Lingxuzi

White-Clad Noble

This half-man, half-snake (naga) leader roams the Misty Swamp. Defeating him will drop a Jade Tooth, which you can use to craft your first upgraded weapon.

White-Clad Noble

Black Wind King

This large monster teleports within a black shroud. Defeating him will grant you the Cloud Step spell.

Black Wind King

Black Bear Monster

The final boss of Chapter 1, this enormous bear uses rolling and charging attacks. Be cautious when facing it.

Black Bear Monster

Red Dragon

This secret boss is located in a cave behind a waterfall in the Wolf Forest. To access it, you must destroy the bronze wall in the arena where you fought the Sand Prince in Chapter 2. Inside, you’ll find a key item called Dragon Scales, which magically makes the waterfall disappear.

Red Dragon

Elder Jinchi

This monk is surrounded by undead; if their corpses get too close, they can heal him. You can fight him in the Chapter 1 secret area: Ancient Avalokiteshvara Temple. Defeating him will reward you with a Fireproof Cloak.

Elder Jinchi

King of Quicksand and Mouse Prince II

Here, you technically only fight the second Mouse Prince. The King of Quicksand merely throws attacks at you from the top of a pillar.

King of Quicksand and Mouse Prince II

We will continue to update this article as we discover more fierce opponents. As you can see, throughout the campaign, many enemies will test your courage. Will you become the Monkey King, or will your legend fade away with time?
